After the inconclusive imaging yesterday and the news that there was suspected mildly increased subluxation (mild dislocation) of her left hip, we were a bit nervous heading into this appointment. We arrived and as soon as we walked in the door, our daughter switched from her normal happy self who continuously waves at everything and everybody to being more closed off and just wanted Mom. She's now associating going to the doctor as an unpleasant experience. It breaks our heart. 😞 You can't explain to a 16 month old that this will all help her in the long run. You just comfort her the best you can.
We got into the room and the nurses came in right away. They were soooo sweet! They administered versed nasally which was a first for us. The first 2 times she received it, it was orally. It was a bit unpleasant, but when it started kicking in, the smiles started to come back out.
They took her to get the MRI and we could hear cries from where we were sitting. We just tried to tune them out knowing that we needed these images to turn out well and that she was in good hands.
Before they even brought her back, my wife received a phone call from a health clinic. She was a bit thrown off and wondering why they would be calling as we were there. She picked up and it was the Dr. He had already received the images and was looking at them before our daughter was even finsihed. Crazy! Well... the news was great! He said that everything looked normal and that he would see us in 6 weeks for the changing of the cast. Tears of joy ran down my wife's face as we let the good news sink in. Hearing those words come out of his mouth was such a relief as we had no idea what news we would be leaving with.
Such a GREAT start to the day!
She went home with Mom and Mom got to hang out with her as the versed wore off. The doctors said that she might take a couple longer naps today and be back to herself by the afternoon. Not our little girl... She was being extra goofy with Mom when she got home and was fighting the tiredness with vengeance. Eventually she ended up taking a nap right on Mom (sometimes you have to take what you can get). The rest of the afternoon went well, but she still wasn't tired at bedtime. Our little girl sure doesn't like to miss out on anything. I think she'll sleep well tonight though. 😊
